The project is located at the edge of Angeles forest, Los Angeles, and encompasses 6 acres of land. The surrounding city has grown and changed the visual and physical context. This results in contemporary needs of the new settlers which constitute a new relationship between building and landscape. The new residence takes the form of a heptagonal figure whose purity is confounded by a series of intersecting diagonal slices though space. Limited by an introverted exterior, living spaces unfold in a moir of shifting perspectival frames from within and throughout the house. The edges of the outdoor blur into the adjoining living spaces. This enables movement and visual relationships to expand and contract that fits well the centrifugal nature of the site and context.
